Google Inc. provides numerous services for users from around the world. These ranges from travel, communication, search to space. One of such applications is the Google Book which was previously known as Google Book Search and Google Print. Often the old script on paper is lost as the paper ages with time and wears out. This problem was identified and resolved by Google.

Google Book is a digital database created by Google through the use of optical character recognition. It allows Google to scan wide selection of books and save it in text format to be used as an ebook. This large collection of books is considered to be the largest online body of human knowledge. Although copyright violation remains to be an issue, the Google Book service has made life easier for researchers, students and general public. By the end of 2013 Google announced that it has more than 3 million books in its library however since then the addition of new content has slowed down.

Negative Features

The biggest critique to the service is that most of the content is in English which is not a clear representation of the various other languages that dominate the actual world. Content in impactful languages such as French, Spanish and Persian is significantly lacking. Google Book lacks the metadata required for identifying specific articles in specific issues. For this purpose Google created the Google Scholar service for research journals.

How to use Google Books

To use Google Books go to www.books.google.com by typing the address in the navigation bar of your browser. At the top of the page the search bar is displayed in which users can search for a particular book or even magazine. Here the users can enter the genre or the author name is the title of the book is not known. Other than this the books can also be explore by accessing the categories tab. This interesting application is also available for portable devices such as phones and tablets containing Android and iOS.

How to download books using Google Books

An independent application by the name of Google Book Downloader is available over the internet which allows user to download books from Google Books website. This downloaded copy is saved in the pdf format on the computer which makes it easy to access, read and share further. Other features of this software are

• Remove area restriction so that each book is available at all location. This is done through the geo tagging wizardry.
