Google is essentially one of the comprehensive search engines in the world but it has recently grown into something bigger than this. Today Google has its hands in various businesses that are making life easier. These include various navigation and communication applications as well. Thus it can be said that Google has progressed in to a huge corporation. During its progress it went through crucial changes which are also reflected in the Google logo or icon.
Google Icon History
After changing its name from BackRub, Google has gone through various icon changes. Ruth Kedar designed the current logo in 2013. This isn’t a fixed logo as it keeps altering itself based on the current events etc. This feature of the Goolge is known as Doodle. For this various modifications are made to the logo these includes the addition of humorous features and cartoon elements. The Logo is changed based on religious events, birthdays of famous people and sporting events such as football world cup or Olympics.
Often Google displays an extraordinary colorless logo. This is restricted to certain locations if a tragedy has taken place. This is one way that Google logo expresses its feelings for the local userbase. Google in Poland used such a logo for the first time in April 2010 when a air disaster occurred which killed numerous people including President Lech Kaczyński.
Another Google logo very prominent is the Favicon. This consists of the letter G on a blue background. Initially it contained the upper letter case G but was recently changed to a lower letter case G. It was implemented, based on the designs provided by André Resende, who had studied in the University of Campinas located in Brazil. He was an undergraduate student in the fied of Computer Science in the University. In order to obtain submissions of favicon Google launched an event in 2008 in which he submitted it as his entry.
Google Icon enhances search results by adding the Favicon next to each search result (if available). Icons make it easier to recognize your favorite websites and breathe more life into that dull search page. The Favicon color changes depending on the type of application being viewed, for example the search feature has a blue background while a Google plus Favicon has a red background with a similar g on the foreground.
