How to search for google docs

Go to Google Drive at drive.google.com.

Go to the search box at the upper & click the drop-down menu arrow.

Select how you need to narrow your search:

File type: Documents, pictures, PDFs, for instance

Opens With (in the new Drive. The red button at the upper left says "New"): Pictures, Google Docs, for instance

Ownership: Whether the file belongs to you or somebody else

Visibility (in classic Drive. The red button at the top left says "Create"): Whether the file is community or secluded

Type a word or phrase & either press Enter on your keyboard or press the Search button

Search in the Docs, Sheets, and Slides home screens

To find the right files rapidly in the new Docs, Sheets, & Slides home screens, you could search openly in the search box at the upper of the page.

As you write in the search box, you’ll see significant results from across all of your files display below your search. When you hit Enter, the results that seem on the page will display files only from the exact home screen you’re using. For instance, if you search & press Enter in Sheets, only Google Sheets results will display up in your home screen.

Go to some of the Docs, Slides home screens or Sheets.

Press the File picker icon in the top right.

Click Select & the file will open in a novel tab
